Roles & access
What each role can access
See which areas of permission unlock which pages, and what Read, Write and Manage mean in practice.
A role’s permissions are set area by area on the Roles & Permissions page. This page explains how those areas map to what you see in the sidebar, so you can work out why a page is or isn’t available — or, as an administrator, which permissions a new role needs.
How to check what your role includes
Your sidebar is the quickest guide: it shows every section your role and workspace include. To find out which role you hold and its exact permissions, ask an administrator, or — if your role includes people management — find yourself on Administration → Members, then open Administration → Roles & Permissions and select that role.
Areas and the pages they unlock
| Area of access | Pages it unlocks |
|---|---|
| Delivery | My Workspace, My Tasks, and the detail pages for tasks, sign-offs and discussions. Also needed to open an intake item. |
| Ideation (Planning) | Submissions, Portfolio and, for people who triage, the Inbox. |
| Dashboard | Dashboard. |
| Reports | My Reports. |
| Product Management | The Product Management section, together with the page-level areas Initiatives, Objectives and Roadmaps for Initiatives, Objectives and Roadmaps. |
| Intake | Intake Queue. |
| Projects | Projects and everything inside a project and its work streams. |
| Support | Support queue and Issues. |
| Agents | Agent Packs. |
| Knowledge base | Applications and Knowledge Bases. |
| Governance | Every Governance area except AI & Models. |
| AI | Governance → AI & Models. |
| Users | Members, Teams and Departments. Roles & Permissions also needs the Manage level. |
What Read, Write and Manage mean in practice
| Level | You can typically… | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Read | Open the pages in the area and see their content. Controls that change things are hidden or switched off. | Viewing Governance settings without being able to change them. |
| Write | Create, edit and delete content in the area. | Creating a project, editing a knowledge base, inviting a member. |
| Manage | Change settings that affect other people’s access or responsibilities. | Changing a member’s access role, editing roles, changing a work stream’s approvers. |
Access that comes from your responsibilities
Some actions depend on your part in a specific piece of work, whatever your role.
| Situation | Who can act |
|---|---|
| Driving a portfolio item through planning | The item’s owner. |
| Writing a PRD section | The section’s named editors. |
| Signing off a PRD section | The section’s assigned reviewers. |
| Approving a work stream gate | The people named as approvers, or anyone holding the gate’s role when nobody is named. |
| Changing gate approvers | The project owner or the work stream owner. |
| Setting up a work stream during intake | The intake item’s lead and the work stream’s owner. |
What you see first
When you sign in, Paradym Next opens the first page your role can access and keeps the most relevant sidebar section open — for example, Planning for product managers and leads, or Reporting for executives.
