Project activity
Read what has happened across a project, newest first, and post updates for everyone on it.
The Activity tab is the project’s history. It collects project updates and the events worth knowing about, such as work streams being added or completed, health changes, risks raised and approvals given, in one feed.
Use it to catch up after time away, to find out when something changed and who changed it, or to post an update so everyone on the project knows where it stands.
Before you start
Open a project from the Projects page, then select the Activity tab.
Understanding the feed
The feed shows the newest events first, grouped by day.
- Updates posted by people on the project, and risks, always stand on their own line.
- Routine events in a row from the same work stream fold into one line, for example a run of task changes. Select the line to expand it and see each event.
- A work stream’s name links to that stream. Select it to open the stream.
By default, the feed shows project-level events, such as:
| Event | Example |
|---|---|
| Updates | A project update posted by someone on the project. |
| Status | The project’s status changed. |
| Work streams | A work stream or sub-work stream was added, approved or completed. |
| Health | A work stream’s health changed. A change to at risk or blocked stands out. |
| Risks | A risk was raised or resolved, a gate ran past its time budget, or someone used an emergency override. |
| Integrations | A work stream was handed to another system, or its tasks were exported. |
Post an update
- Write your update in the box at the top of the feed: where the project stands, what changed and what needs a decision.
- Select Post update, or press ⌘↵.
You see Posted to the timeline, and the update goes to the top of the feed for everyone. The latest update also appears on the project’s Overview tab.
Search the feed
- Type in Search activity… at the top of the tab.
The feed narrows to events that match what they say, who did them, or the work stream they belong to. If nothing matches, you see Nothing matches that search.
Show work stream detail
The feed shows project-level events by default, to keep it readable.
- Select Show work stream detail.
Gate and stage events from the work streams are added to the feed, such as a stream reaching a gate, a gate being approved, or a stream moving on to its next stage. Clear the checkbox to hide them again.
See earlier activity
The feed loads the most recent events first. Select Show earlier activity at the bottom to load more.
What to expect
If nothing has happened yet, you see No activity yet. Events appear as work streams progress and updates are posted.
