Agent Packs
Choose which agent packs draft an item’s Overview and Requirements, and which one is used by default.
An agent pack is a ready-made AI agent with its own instructions, knowledge and model. When Next drafts a planning document, such as an item’s Overview, it uses an agent pack to do the writing.
The Agent Packs tab in Governance → Planning decides which packs are available for each planning document, and which one is used first.
Before you start
- Only enabled agent packs can be chosen. Manage packs in Context & Agents → Agent Packs.
- You need permission to change Governance settings to edit this page. Without it, you can see which packs are chosen, but the buttons to add, remove or change them are hidden.
- If you cannot see this page, your organisation may not use it, or your role may not include it. See Understanding roles.
Understanding the page
The page has a section for each planning document:
| Section | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Overview | The packs that can draft an item’s Overview. |
| Requirements | The packs that can draft an item’s Requirements. |
| PRD | A link to Workflows. PRD packs are set on each PRD step instead, because a workflow can split the PRD across several steps. |
In Overview and Requirements, each pack shows its name, description and the model it runs on. The pack marked Default is used first. Authors can switch to any other pack listed in the section.
Changes save automatically. Saving… and then Saved appear beside each section heading.
Add a pack
- Open Governance → Planning and select the Agent Packs tab.
- In Overview or Requirements, select Add pack.
- Choose a pack from the list.
If a section has no packs, it says No packs enabled — add one to make this artifact draftable. Add at least one so Next can draft that document.
Set the default pack
- Hover over the pack you want.
- Select Set default. The Default label moves to that pack.
Remove a pack
- Find the pack.
- Select × on the right of its row.
Authors can no longer switch to that pack for that document.
Set the packs for PRDs
- In the PRD section, select Set PRD packs on a workflow step. The Workflows tab opens.
- Open the workflow, then open its PRD step.
- Choose the step’s Agent packs.
What to expect
- The default pack is used the next time Next drafts that document.
- In a planning workflow, an Overview or Requirements step with no packs of its own uses the default from this tab. The step shows it as Governance default.
