Governance
Applications
Rename and describe each application, choose which files are skipped when code is uploaded, and decide whether uploads are summarised.
An application is a code base your workspace has uploaded to Paradym Next, so that Next and agent packs can understand it. The Applications pages under Context & Agents are where you upload and explore code. Governance → Applications is where each application’s own settings live.
Before you start
- You need permission to change applications to edit these settings. Without it, you see View only — you don’t have permission to change these settings. and the fields are switched off.
- If you cannot see this page, your role may not include Governance. See Understanding roles.
Understanding the page
Each application has its own block. Under its name you see how many versions have been uploaded and the programming languages found in them.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | What the application is called everywhere in Paradym Next. Required, up to 200 characters. |
| Description | What the repository is and what it is for. |
| Skip these | Files and folders to leave out when a zip is parsed, one pattern per line. |
| Summarise uploads | Whether each file gets a short AI-written description after parsing. |
Changes save as you type. Saving… and then Saved appear at the top of the page.
Rename or describe an application
- Open Governance → Applications.
- Find the application.
- Edit the Name or Description. The change saves a moment after you stop typing.
Choose which files to skip
Some files add noise without adding understanding, such as test fixtures, minified files or generated assets. Skipping them keeps the code map focused and saves time.
-
Find the application.
-
In Skip these, enter one pattern per line. For example:
tests *.min.js ui/public/* -
Stop typing; the list saves automatically.
How patterns match:
| Pattern | Matches |
|---|---|
A folder or file name, such as tests or *.min.js | That name wherever it sits in the code. |
A pattern with a /, such as ui/public/* | That path. |
Matching files are not stored, parsed or summarised.
Turn upload summaries on or off
When Summarise uploads is on, Paradym Next makes one AI call per file after parsing, describing what that file is for.
- Agent packs need these summaries to work well with an application.
- The code map does not need them.
- Find the application.
- Switch Summarise uploads on or off. The change saves straight away.
What to expect
- Name and description changes appear across Paradym Next as soon as they save.
- Skip these and Summarise uploads take effect the next time someone uploads a version of the application.
Good to know
- If the page says This workspace has not created any applications yet., upload an application from Context & Agents → Applications first.
- If it says The AI service does not serve applications yet, so there is nothing to configure., applications are not available for your workspace yet.
