Projects

See every delivery project at a glance, find the one you need, and start a new project.

A project is where delivery happens. It groups the work streams that deliver a body of work, gives that work an owner, a team, a planned window and a budget, and tracks how it is going.

The Projects page lists every project you can see, with its status, how its work streams are doing, who owns it and when it is due. Use it to spot projects that need attention and to open any project.

Before you start

Open the page from Delivery → Projects in the sidebar.

Understanding the list

Each row is one project. Select a row to open the project’s overview.

ColumnWhat it shows
NameThe project’s name, with its category (the coloured dot) and team underneath.
Workflow groupThe groups of the delivery workflows its work streams run on. A dash means none of them is in a group.
StatusWhere the project stands. See the next table.
Work streamsA bar splitting the project’s work streams by health, with a count such as 2/5 done. Hover for the breakdown. Shows No work streams if it has none yet.
OwnerThe person accountable for the project, or Unassigned.
DueTime until the planned end date. Shown in red once it is overdue. Hover for the date. A dash means no end date is set.
Last activityHow long ago the project was last updated. Hover for the exact time.

Workflow groups are set up in Governance → Delivery → Workflow. See Workflows.

Find a project

  1. Filter by Status, Type (the project’s category) or Workflow group.
  2. Search by name, description or team.
  3. Sort by Name, Workflow group, Owner, Due date or Last activity.

If your filters hide every project, you see No projects match and how many projects are hidden. Select Clear filters to see everything again.

Create a project

  1. Select New project at the top right of the page. The Create New Project dialog opens.
  2. Enter a Name.
  3. Choose a Category.
  4. Choose a team under Team Members.
  5. Enter a Start Date and End Date. These are optional, but the project needs a planned window to show a delivery forecast.
  6. Select Create.

Create stays unavailable until the project has a name, a category and a team.

You are taken straight to the new project’s Work streams tab, ready to add its work.

What happens next

A new project starts empty. Work streams arrive in two ways:

  • A lead promotes an item from the Intake Queue into the project.
  • Someone starts a new work stream from the project’s Work streams tab, which opens it in the Intake Queue to set up.

See Project work streams.

Good to know

  • The list shows 25 projects per page.
  • If there are no projects at all, you see No projects yet and a prompt to create one.
