Delivery
Delivery
Shape handed-over work into work streams and tasks, promote it into a project, and deliver it stage by stage.
Delivery is where planned work becomes real work. Once planning hands a feature over, or someone raises a request directly, the work arrives in the Intake Queue. There, a lead decides which project it belongs to, splits it into work streams, gives each stream an owner, dates and a workflow, and drafts the tasks. When everything is in place, the lead promotes the item, and its work streams and tasks appear in the project, ready to be worked on.
Inside a project, each work stream moves through the stages of its workflow. Every stage has its own board of tasks, approval gates sit between stages, and sub-boards catch unplanned work that turns up along the way.
Where delivery fits
Work in Paradym Next follows one path:
- An idea is submitted and reviewed in the Inbox.
- It is planned and prioritised in the Portfolio.
- Planning hands the feature over to the Intake Queue, where it is shaped into work streams and tasks.
- It is promoted into a Project, where its work streams are delivered stage by stage.
- Once it is live, issues come back through Support.
The Delivery section of the sidebar holds the Intake Queue and Projects.
Leads and owners
Two kinds of people shape an intake item, and they see different controls.
| Who | What they do |
|---|---|
| Lead | The person who manages delivery for the item, usually a project or delivery manager. Leads choose the project, add, rename and delete work streams, assign owners, place requirements, review each stream’s tasks, promote the item or decline it. |
| Work stream owner | The person a lead assigns to a work stream. Owners draft and edit their stream’s tasks, then mark them done or send them for review. An owner who cannot take a stream on can hand it back. |
Anyone else who can open the item sees it read-only.
Once work is in a project, the project owner is accountable for the project and the work stream owner is accountable for each stream. Both can approve a new work stream, complete stages and manage approvers.
