Next Studio
Choose the agent pack behind each Next Studio step and the AI models developers may use in each coding CLI.
Next Studio helps developers carry delivery work through planning, code review, test review and committing code, with AI agents doing much of the legwork. It also launches coding command-line tools (CLIs) on the developer’s own machine.
The Next Studio tab in Governance → Delivery sets two things for the whole workspace:
- which agent pack runs at each Next Studio step;
- which AI models developers may pick in each coding CLI.
Before you start
- You need permission to change Governance settings to edit this page. Without it, you see View only — you don’t have permission to change these settings. and the controls are switched off.
- Only enabled agent packs can be assigned. Manage packs in Context & Agents → Agent Packs.
- If you cannot see this page, your organisation may not use it, or your role may not include it. See Understanding roles.
All changes on this tab save automatically. Saving… and then Saved appear beside each section heading.
Assign an agent pack to each step
The Step agent packs section lists the four Next Studio steps: Planning Step, Code Review Step, Test Review Step and Code Commit Step. The pack you choose is the agent that runs at that step.
- Open Governance → Delivery and select the Next Studio tab.
- Find the step.
- Open its list and choose an agent pack. To leave a step without a pack, choose No pack assigned.
Control which models developers may use
The Coding CLI models section lists each coding CLI that Next Studio launches.
Each CLI row has:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Permitted / Not permitted switch | Whether developers may use this CLI at all. |
| Pinned models | The model IDs developers may choose. Select × on one to remove it. |
| Add a model id… and Add | Adds another allowed model. |
| Default | The model chosen first, unless the developer picks another. |
Allow or block a CLI
- Find the CLI.
- Switch it off to mark it Not permitted, or on to mark it Permitted.
When a CLI is not permitted, its model settings are hidden.
Pin the models developers may choose
- Find the CLI.
- Type a model ID in Add a model id…, or pick one of the suggestions that appear as you type.
- Select Add, or press Enter.
Suggestions are a convenience only. You can type any model ID the CLI supports.
With no models pinned, the row says No models pinned — Studio will use the CLI’s own default.
Choose the default model
- Find the CLI.
- Open Default and choose one of the pinned models. Choose First in the list to use whichever model is pinned first.
If you remove the model that was the default, the default moves to the first remaining model.
What to expect
- Developers using Next Studio get the agent pack you assign at each step.
- The next time a developer launches a coding CLI from Next Studio, it offers the models you pinned, starting with the default.
Good to know
If the page says No coding CLIs are configured on this platform., there are no coding CLIs to set up for your workspace yet.
