Prioritisation
Choose how portfolio items are scored, where each score band starts, and how requirements are grouped on the board.
Every item in the portfolio carries a score from 0 to 100, which helps you compare items and decide what to do first. Requirements within an item are grouped into lanes, so the team can see what matters most. The Prioritisation tab in Governance → Planning sets the methods behind both.
Before you start
- You need permission to change Governance settings to edit this page. Without it, you see View only — you don’t have permission to change these settings. and the controls are switched off.
- If you cannot see this page, your organisation may not use it, or your role may not include it. See Understanding roles.
Every section on this tab saves automatically. Saving… and then Saved appear beside each heading.
Scoring model
The Scoring model section lists the methods used to score items. One is the default; others can stay available to switch to.
| Model | How it scores |
|---|---|
| RICE | Reach × Impact × Confidence ÷ Effort |
| WSJF | Cost of Delay ÷ Job Size |
| Custom | Weighted to your organisation |
Under each model’s name you see the factors it uses. A model with no factors shows Not configured and can’t be chosen.
The score is seeded when a cluster is promoted from the Inbox and evolves as the item moves through planning.
Choose the default scoring model
- Open Governance → Planning and select the Prioritisation tab.
- In Scoring model, select the radio button beside the model you want. It is marked Default.
Keep other models available
Use the switch on each model’s row. A model that is switched on stays available to switch to; a model that is switched off is not offered.
Score bands
The Score bands section sets how a 0–100 score reads on cards and lists — where strong, fair and weak begin. The band decides the colour the score is shown in.
| Band | Standard start | Colour |
|---|---|---|
| Strong | 75 | Green |
| Okay | 50 | Amber |
| Weak | 0 | Red |
Change where a band starts
- Enter a number from 0 to 100 in the from box beside the band.
- Click or tab out of the box. The change saves.
For example, setting Strong to start at 80 means only scores of 80 and above are shown in green.
Categorisation
The Categorisation section sets the lens requirements are grouped by on the board, with the number of lanes each model has.
| Model | Lanes |
|---|---|
| MoSCoW | Must Have, Should Have, Could Have, Won’t Have |
| Kano Model | Basic Needs, Performance, Excitement, Indifferent |
| Priority Tiers | Critical (P0), High (P1), Medium (P2), Low (P3) |
| Value vs Effort | Quick Win, Big Bet, Fill-in, Time Sink |
Choose the default categorisation model
- In Categorisation, select the radio button beside the model you want. It is marked Default.
Switch a categorisation model on or off
Use the switch on the model’s row. A switched-off model is shown faded and can’t be the default.
What to expect
- New items are scored with the default scoring model.
- Score colours across the portfolio update to match your bands.
- Requirements boards group requirements into the lanes of the default categorisation model.
