Generation
Decide whether authors see the token cost and run time of the AI runs behind each drafted document.
Each time Next drafts an Overview, Requirements or PRD, an agent pack runs and uses AI tokens, which have a cost. Paradym Next always records that cost against the version it produced. The Generation tab in Governance → Planning decides whether authors can see it.
Showing costs can help teams understand the effort behind a draft and use regeneration thoughtfully. Hiding them keeps the planning screens simpler.
Before you start
- You need permission to change Governance settings to edit this page. Without it, you see View only — you don’t have permission to change these settings. and the switches are off.
- If you cannot see this page, your organisation may not use it, or your role may not include it. See Understanding roles.
Understanding the settings
The Transparency section has two switches:
| Switch | What authors see when it is on |
|---|---|
| Show token cost and run time | The token cost and run time against each version in the Overview, Requirements and PRD version history. |
| Show cost per agent stage while generating | The tokens and time each agent stage reports on the live activity timeline while a draft is being written. |
Changes save automatically. Saving… and then Saved appear beside the heading.
Show or hide run costs
- Open Governance → Planning and select the Generation tab.
- Switch Show token cost and run time on or off.
- Switch Show cost per agent stage while generating on or off.
What to expect
- The change applies the next time an author opens a version history or watches a draft being generated.
- Switching these off only hides the information. The cost of every run is still recorded, so switching them back on shows the history in full.
